Looking for a picnic spot?

There’s no doubt Summerlin is one of the most beautiful areas in Las Vegas. To take advantage of that beauty, I decided to go around Summerlin and check out a few parks and have a little picnic for lunch!

I swung by Whole Foods, picked up a nice salad, lemonade, and the mandatory water.

As I was on my way to Willows Park, I passed this cute little grassy area with a little pond and a water feature. It’s in a collection of small ponds on Lake North Drive called The Lakes.

Being from Jersey, I miss the greenery, rivers, and lakes that I saw all too often. When I saw this, the nostalgia started to well up and I had decided this is where I’ll stop and enjoy my salad!

I didn’t realize that a family of ducks had already claimed the ground, but luckily, they were totally fine with sharing the space with me.

The water feature brought the temperature down and the shade was just enough to make having a mid-summer, mid-afternoon picnic bearable and, actually, quite enjoyable.

There was a security guard driving around the area -- which made me uncomfortable (isn’t it supposed to be the opposite?) -- but she didn’t kick me out which was my worry.

Since my intentions were originally to go to Willows Park, I think I should give it a little review as well.

Willows is pretty much an unknown park in Summerlin. Whenever I mention it, even people who are Vegas born and raised say, “Where’s that??”

It’s a cute little park with a covered play area and a baseball field. Since it’s very green and there’s plenty of shade, it’s a place we frequent for our company pictures and is definitely a good spot for a picnic.

There’s a little bit of a view of the mountains; though, where I was, the view is blocked by trees.

All in all, it’s a pretty nice getaway from the busy Vegas lifestyle.

Until our next adventure,

Alexis and Daphnie
