Saying Goodbye to one of our favorite Listings
Full disclosure:
I love certain homes we sell more than others. And it has less to do with the value and more to do with the story.
Willow Rock is one of my favorites. Not only because it’s beautiful, and we helped set multi-year records, but because of our clients. These are clients that I have known for a very long time, and that have given me opportunities that at a time, would not have necessarily been given.
In 2017, they had a home to sell in one of my absolute favorite communities in Las Vegas - Canyon Fairways. We had 2 Agents at the time, and had not sold anything on the listing side for more than maybe $600,000. We had done one buyer side deal over $1,000,000 - but luxury was not our speciality at the time.
I was up against some very heavy hitters in this market. No, I won’t name names, but you can guess if you know the Las Vegas market well, and didn’t really feel I stood a chance…
But we got the listing.
And we poured ourselves into the marketing, hired aerial drone shots when that wasn’t as common, and went full on video production. We accompanied every showing, and fielded every call. We were definitely pushing the envelope - we had their Custom Single Level home on the Market for a whopping $350 per foot (sigh).
We sold the home in March of 2018. Alexandria, our second child, was 6 months old. It was the biggest commission check we had received to date. I did what every somewhat irresponsible Agent does, and went and bought a car.
Fast forward 6 years. That sale at $350/ft (I think it was actually less) is now common place in Summerlin, and laughably low for anything in Canyon Fairways (the house next door closed 5 months ago for about $650/ft). The Brokerage has 20+ Agents, and our 6 month old is finishing Kindergarten.
We just closed on this home, finalizing the next chapter in their world, and sold their current home (Willow Rock) for $1,600,000 - or just about $600/ft - for a ‘production built home.’
Not once 6 years ago, or even with this sale, did these clients ever worry about our expertise, or experience. And for these reasons, I will always have fond memories of the time we sold 6101 Willow Rock, because the money comes and goes, but the stories we help our clients tell, last a lifetime.
With so much gratitude and thanks to our sellers!
And yes… I still have the car (but have been thinking it may be time for something… new)!
