Rock Rink: the anchor of the season

Rock Rink is an 8,000-square-foot real ice rink on The Lawn, running from November 13 through January 18. Downtown Summerlin lists mid-week pricing, a holiday train that circles the rink and holiday tree through January 18 at $7 per rider, and a cocoa trailer on site. Reservations are handled through the event page.

The rink also has themed nights. The listing includes Student Skate Nights on Nov. 18, Dec. 2, Jan. 6 and Jan. 13; a night with AEG and country-themed music celebrating NFR on Nov. 21; Frozen Skate Night on Dec. 10; Las Vegas Sports Night on Dec. 16; a night with Cirque du Soleil on Dec. 18; Glow Night on Jan. 7; and a Swiftie Skate Night on Jan. 14.

The Holiday Parade on Park Centre Drive

The parade returns every Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. from November 20 through December 19. Downtown Summerlin describes snow flurries and a North Pole theme, with Santa at the end.

Santa Chalet and Santa’s Mailbox

Santa Chalet opens November 13 at Macy’s Promenade and runs through Christmas Eve. Reservations are required, with limited walk-ups depending on capacity. Listed photo package pricing steps up through the season:

  • Nov. 14 to 25: $39.99
  • Nov. 27 to Dec. 10: $42.99
  • Dec. 11 to 24: $49.99

Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Two additions worth knowing: Pet Nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 8 p.m. through December 17, and a Sensory Morning on Saturday, December 5, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Next to the Chalet, Santa’s Mailbox takes letters through December 22. Include a return address for a personalized reply. For every letter received, Howard Hughes and Downtown Summerlin say they will donate $1 to the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation, up to $2,500.

Giving back: The Giving Machine and VetFest

The Giving Machine returns to The Promenade from November 12 through January 3. It works like a vending machine, except each purchase is a donation. Local beneficiaries listed for 2026 are Catholic Charities, Foster Kinship, Future Smiles, Helping Hands of Vegas Valley and Three Square, with international beneficiaries including Clubfoot Solutions, African Hope for Girls and Lifting Hands International.

VetFest, now in its fourth year, takes over The Lawn on Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., showcasing businesses owned by Southern Nevada veterans and military-connected entrepreneurs. Since it lands the weekend after Veterans Day, it is an easy way to support those businesses directly.

The Nutcracker on ice and the Hanukkah Celebration

Las Vegas Ice Theatre skaters perform ‘The Nutcracker at Rock Rink’ three times: Sunday, November 22 at 6 p.m., and Sundays, December 6 and December 20, at 10:45 a.m. On December 6, Downtown Summerlin and Jewish Nevada host a Hanukkah Celebration on Park Centre Drive from 4 to 6 p.m. with a menorah lighting and entertainment, and a lighted menorah stays at the Dining Arroyo through the Hanukkah season.

Why this matters if you are looking at Summerlin

When I think about what Summerlin’s HOA and price point buy compared to other parts of Las Vegas, part of the answer is trails and parks, and part is things like this: a walkable town center with a steady calendar of community events. It will not show up on an appraisal, but it is part of what you are buying into. If the outdoor side matters more to you, my guide to Summerlin’s trails and parks covers that. And if you own here and are weighing a move, my take on listing now versus waiting until spring is worth a read before the holidays get busy.
