Grand Café at Red Rock
Grand Café reminded me of being back in New Jersey and going to a diner -- which I miss beyond belief -- so it was refreshing to step into someplace that reminded me of home. They’re open 24 hours, have that typical glass case with delicious desserts, and you pay at the front: all standard diner features.
But, Grand Café is definitely so much more than just a diner ...
I went for breakfast and, because it was nice out, decided to sit on the patio. I would definitely recommend doing that when you go. It’s fully shaded and there’s a water feature right there. It sounds like you’re next to a waterfall. And, being surrounded by bamboo and tropical plants made me feel like I was on vacation.
Between the architecture and atmosphere, it really felt like the “total experience”.
I wanted something light and fresh, so I chose their berry parfait. I was expecting the usual, overpriced parfait in a glass cup, layered with berries, yogurt, and granola. It was not that at all! When the server brought it out, I was shocked to see SO much! There were so many berries -- four different kinds, all sectioned out and in very large portions -- pretty much half a container of each type!
I definitely got my money’s worth; I couldn’t even finish it all.
They did seem a little unprepared during my visit, but I did get there right after the early-morning rush. The service was a little slow; and they ran out of berries. Instead of having me order something else, though, they actually went to buy berries. All things considered, it wasn’t bad enough for me to give them a negative review.
It’s definitely worth the trip. I’ll be heading back there to try out more of the menu for sure.
